2010 Twenty20 World Cup
The Twenty20 Cricket World Cup is the showpiece tournament for cricket’s abbreviated format.
The 2010 T20 World Cup gets underway on the 30th of May in the Caribbean. This year’s tournament is effectively a revised version of the ICC Champions Trophy which had been due to take place in Pakistan late in 2009. ICC cricket bosses have made the decision to replace the one day tournament with a T20 tournament to ensure that the tournament enjoys strong support in the Caribbean.
Twenty20 World Cup Betting
Gambling Guru’s World Cup Betting Guide will be offering top coverage of the 2010 T20 World Cup. During the tournament we will be providing detailed betting previews and analysis of all high-profile feature matches, along with best odds for the outright markets for the tournament, as well as providing access to a comprehensive odds comparison service.
Australia has emerged as the favourite to win the T20 World Cup in 2010 despite the team’s previous failures in the tournament. The Australians have shown glimpses of their omnipotent best during the season, and are trading high enough to provide a return on each way bets if they make the final of the tournament. However, many people will be backing South Africa to make an impact at the tournament, with the Proteas offering excellent value at 9/2 at Ladbrokes.
Of course, T20 cricket is far more likely to produce upsets than any other form of the game, which means a number of teams could provide excellent value even if they only manage to make the final in a tournament where each way bets are being paid at 1/3 odds to 2nd place. The West Indies could blast their way to the final at a juicy 12/1 at Bodog while Pakistan are surely deserving of better odds than the 10/1 offered by Boylesports.
2010 T20 World Cup Format
The 2010 T20 World Cup will see competing teams divided into four groups of three teams. The top two teams in each group will progress to a Super 8s stage where they will play a round-robin format before the top four teams go through to the semifinals.
This year’s tournament sees the arrival of a new team on the international stage, with the rapidly improving Afghanistan making its first appearance in a top level tournament. The Afghans won through to the T20 World Cup via the qualifying tournament, and have been priced as high as 1000/1 by many bookies to win the tournament.
