Armado Guevara Bio

Amado Guevara was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras on the 2nd of May 1976. The Honduran displayed enormous talent as a youngster and was signed by top flight club, Olimpia, shortly after his sixteenth birthday.

Armado Guevara Career

After making his debut for Olimpia in the Honduran first division in 1992, Armado Guevara spent just two seasons in Honduran football before moving to Spain to take up an offer Real Valladolid. The Honduran would go on to play for another 10 clubs in the next decade in a half.

Rarely settling at a club for more than a single season, Guevara’s career reached its peak when he moved to the United States to play with the New York Red Bulls. Guevara put down roots for three seasons, racking up an exceptional scoring rate for a midfielder by averaging a goal in every 3 games.

However, by the end of the 2006 football season, the incendiary Guevara fell out with New York Red Bulls bosses, and returned to Honduras to play for Montagua, a team he had played for on several occasions in the past.

This move saw Guevara recover his best form, and within short order he was offered a deal with Toronto football club. Guevara spent a single season at the club before transferring back to his favoured football base of Montagua.

While Guevara has had a patchy club career, he has been a regular fixture in the Honduran football team. The midfielder is the most capped player in the history of Honduran football, and since 1994 has scored over two dozen goals for his country.

Armado Guevara Playing Style

Armado Guevara is an aggressive player with a knack for getting on the wrong side of referees. While he is hard to get along with off the field, he is the consummate team player on the pitch, and is known for his rapid acceleration and sometimes spectacular shots off set pieces.
