Nicklas Bendtner Bio

Nicklas Bendtner was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on the 16th of January 1988. The young Dane began his club career at the age of 10, signing with youth side, B.93 before moving to FC Copenhagen’s youth club, Kjøbenhavns Boldklub.

Bendtner quickly proved to be a mature and accomplished striker, and Premier League side, Arsenal, was quick to close in on his talents, offering him a contract at the age of 16. Bendtner would play in the Arsenal youth team for one season before making his professional debut.

Nicklas Bendtner Career

Bendtner would play in the Arsenal reserves until 2005, when Arsene Wenger gifted the young striker his first team debut against Sunderland during a League Cup match. However, the plethora of gifted strikers at the Emirates Stadium continued to keep the young Dane out of the first team.

In 2006 Arsenal made the decision to lend Bendtner to Premeirship rivals, Birmingham City, where the young striker could acquire more game time as a player in the starting line-up. Bendtner would spend two seasons learning the Premiership ropes before returning to Arsenal in 2008.

Since rejoining Arsenal, Bendtner has made sporadic appearances for his club, putting himself on the Premier League map by scoring a number of impressive goals in the top flight. A groin injury kept him out of the early part of the 2009/2010 football season, however he has since returned to duty for his club.

Nicklas Bendtner has played for the Danish football team since 2006. During his short international career he has scored goals against some of the world’s highest ranked teams, including goals against Germany and Portugal. He also scored three of Denmark’s goals in qualifying for the 2010 Football World Cup.
