Cameroon qualified for the 2010 Football World Cup by winning CAF qualifying Group B. The Cameroon football team lost only one match as they climbed to the top of one of the toughest qualifying groups in the CAF region.
Cameroon’s form against African teams outside of qualifying has also been impressive. The Cameroon team scored victories over Austria and Guinea, but lost a high-scoring match to South Africa. Given this team’s form excellent World Cup pedigree, it would be no surprise to see Cameroon reach the knockout stages of the 2010 Football World Cup.
Nickname: Indomitable Lions
Coach: Paul Le Guen
Confederation: CAF
Best World Cup Performance: Quarterfinals (1990)
Highest FIFA Ranking: 11
Key Players: Alex Song, Samuel Etoo
Cameroon is trading at around 80/1 in the antepost betting markets. This is probably an under-valuation of the Lions, and one could expect those odds to drop during the World Cup, opening up the opportunity to trade on the betting exchanges. One notable aspect of Cameroonian play is the team’s excellent defence, which has a habit of keeping clean sheets. Look out for low-scoring matches against quality opposition, and clean sheets against teams of similar or lower quality.
