Blackjack switch is an interesting variation of the popular card game blackjack. The game requires a player to play two hands of blackjack simultaneously, and gives the player the option to switch the top card from both hands to create stronger winning hands. The game carries a house edge of approximately 0.6%.
Playing Casino Blackjack Switch for Beginners
A game of blackjack switch begins with the player making two bets of equal value. Two cards are then dealt to each of the player’s bets, while the dealer receives one card face-up and one card face-down. If the dealer’s face-up card shows an ace or a 10 the dealer will check for blackjack.
If the dealer does not have blackjack, the player is free to swap the second card that was dealt to each hand. The player may also choose to follow any of the regular blackjack betting options, including splitting and doubling on hands. Once the player has completed betting, the dealer’s second card is flipped over and the dealer will either stand or draw until the game produces a result.
Blackjack Switch Rules
Blackjack switch provides a player with several advantages not offered by traditional blackjack, and the rules of the game have been adjusted to keep the house edge intact. Rule changes include:
- If the dealer hits a 22 this hand will beat any hand held by the player with the exception of a blackjack.
- Blackjack pays even money.
- The dealer is required to draw on soft 17.
- A player can switch cards to create a blackjack hand.
- A player’s blackjack will push a dealer’s blackjack.
Blackjack Switch Strategy
The Blackjack switch casino game is far more complex than traditional blackjack and playing with optimal strategy requires an appreciation of the statistical probabilities associated with the card combinations for each hand. A basic blackjack switch strategy is to always seek to create at least one winning hand when two weak hands have been dealt. Otherwise observe basic blackjack strategy when deciding whether to double or draw cards to a hand.
