Wetherby racecourse is the only specialised national hunt racecourse in Yorkshire. Wetherby racecourse has been hosting races since 1891, and today hosts national hunt races throughout the year. There are plans to lay down an all-purpose track at Wetherby racecourse to prevent race cancellations during the wet winter months.

The Wetherby racecourse comprises a left-handed 1 mile 4 furlong oval. Turns are easy, whilst the fences and ditches represent some of the trickiest obstacles in national hunt racing.
