Great Leighs racecourse is a recently constructed facility near Chelmsford Essex and the first new racecourse to be constructed in the United Kingdom in eight decades. Great Leighs racecourse, due to open in April 2008, will be one of the most modern racing venues in Europe and features a futuristic 10,000 seat grandstand.

The Great Leighs racecourse features an 8 furlong polytrack racetrack, with a 2 furlong run-in. Great Leighs racecourse will specialise in thoroughbred flat racing and will not host national hunt meetings.
