The Miami Masters is the second event on the ATP Masters circuit. The event is held annually in March at Key Biscane Tennis Centre in Miami, Florida. The event attracts the top ranked players in men’s tennis, and offers a prize fund of $3,45 million – amongst the highest on offer in the Masters Series.
The Miami Masters is widely considered to be the most prestigious Masters Series event. The Miami Masters is one of only five tournaments designated as a mandatory event by the ATP, along with the four grand slams. For this reason the Miami Masters is often described as the 5th grand slam.
Miami Masters Betting
As the unofficial 5th Grand Slam, the Miami Masters is popular with both punters who bet on tennis, and bookmakers in the United Kingdom. Tennis fans can look forward to ante-post betting markets, a wide variety of betting opportunities and the occasional betting special or free bet on offer during the tournament.
With the top players on the ATP tour in attendance, outright winner betting markets are always a popular option amongst punters, who can place reliable each-way bets on some of the biggest names in the sport. However, even match-ups between lower ranked players can generate good returns, if set betting and match betting markets are exploited.

Miami Masters History
The Miami Masters was conceived and founded by former professional tennis player Butch Buchholz. The tournament was intended to be the first high profile tournament of the year, at a time when the Australian Open was played in December.
Buchholz approached the ATP with a proposal to set up what he described as a ‘winter Wimbledon’, and in 1985 the first Miami Masters was played at Delray Beach in Florida. Buchholz put up the $1,8 million prize money for the tournament, creating an event on a par with both Wimbledon and the US Open, virtually overnight.
The Miami Masters moved to a number of different venues during its early years. The first tournament was held at Laver’s International Tennis Resort before being moved to Boca Raton. The tournament moved to its permanent home in Key Biscane one year later.
Miami Masters Winners
The Miami Masters winners list reads like a who’s who of world tennis. All the greatest players in the modern era have claimed titles at the Miami Masters, but Andre Agassi holds the record for the most tournament wins with six Miami Masters winners titles.
