The Canada Masters series, currently sponsored as the Rogers Cup, is the 6th Masters Series tournament, and is contested in August by the members of the ATP Tour. At present the Canada Masters offers a purse of US$2,450,000.
The Canada Masters is played at hard court venues. The hosting of the event alternates between the Stade Uniprix in Montreal and the Rexall Centre in Toronto. Montreal hosts the Canada Masters in odd numbered years, while Toronto hosts the event in even numbered years.
Canada Masters History
The Canada Masters is the second oldest international tennis tournament in the world. The tournament was first contested in 1881, the same year in which the first US National Championships were hosted in Rhode Island, and four years after the first Championships were played in Wimbledon.
During its long history the Canada Masters has developed a reputation for attracting the biggest attendance figures in Canada, taking both the Masters Series and domestic sports tournaments into account. In 2004 over 150,000 spectators attended the Canada Masters in Toronto. This record was broken in 2007 when over 180,000 spectators turned up for the Montreal Canada Masters.
Canada Masters Betting
Despite the fact that the Canada Masters is an important tournament, only a handful of sportsbooks offer ante-post betting markets for the event. This is partially due to the fact that entries are only confirmed close to the event, and partially to the poor player turnout for the Canada Masters.
However, the tournament does receive full betting coverage in August, and punters can look forward to the occasional betting special or free bet offer from generous online sportsbooks. Odds are not always a good reflection of a player’s prospects in the Canada Masters, as the short odds favourite has been deposed by a lower ranked player several times during the past decade.

Canada Masters Winners
Ivan Lendl is the most successful open era player in the history of the Canada Masters. Lendl won the Canada Masters 6 times during his career, which is 3 times more than the second best performer in the history of the tournament – Andre Agassi.
Between 1996 and 2004 the Canada Masters produced several upsets, with a number of lower ranked players, including Wayne Ferreira, Pat Rafter, Andrei Pavel, Thomas Johansson, Guillermo Cañas and Chris Woodruff claiming titles at the tournament.
