The 2,000 Guineas is the first of the Classics run during the English summer flat racing season. This historic Group 1 race is run in late April or early May every year, and features the talents of the finest 3 year old thoroughbreds in English flat racing.

The 2,000 Guineas is run over a distance of 1 mile on the Rowley Mile circuit at Newmarket racecourse in Suffolk. The race was first contested in 1809, when Bill Clift rode Wizard to victory to claim a prize of 2,000 Guineas. Today the 2,000 Guineas offers a winners purse of £350,000 - one of the richest prizes in flat racing.
