Celebrated foul-mouthed chef, Gordon Ramsey, has got the entire English-speaking world in twist with his fabulous cooking, his careful mentoring of chef wannabees and his dubious choice of language on the award winning reality show, Hell’s Kitchen, currently into its fifth season in the US.

Bad Language Boosts Ratings
The show, a runaway success in the States, was piloted in the UK for the first time in 2004 with Ramsey as Head Chef tutoring an entire posse of unaccomplished chef celebs on how to cook. The show proved a hit and Ramsey was lured to the United States to star in the American version but what really got pundits and detractors talking, was Ramsey’s stream of profanities that has led to censorship by some broadcasters and axing by others!
The gist of the show is an even number of contestants, who have limited culinary experience, are divided into two teams that compete for Ramsey’s attention and those who are simply not cut out for the kitchen, or are intimidated by Ramsey’s tirades, are eliminated by public vote.
As the show progresses, the heat in the kitchen rises to oft-times untenable levels and frazzled contestants have to up the ante, madly slicing and dicing in an effort to attract Ramsey’s approval. The last remaining chef standing wins the prize and the value of these prizes has grown exponentially with the increased viewer ratings!
The fourth Season, for instance, promised lofty ‘steaks’ with the prize the position of senior sous chef at Ramsey’s newly anointed Restaurant – Gordon Ramsey at the London West Hollywood – it sure is going to be interesting to see how ‘the hell’ the organisers eclipse that one!
Casting Begins for the Next Season of Hell’s Kitchen
Fox Broadcasting Company is currently searching for contestants for the next ‘course’ of Hell’s Kitchen and this time accomplished foodies are being targeted, so viewers can expect the standard, the stress and the struggle to be that much higher.
As with most successful reality shows the outcome of each edition is wagered upon and millions of dollars have been bet on the show since it’s inception in the UK in 2004. Odds will be available soon at all the leading bookmakers, so check out Fox’s latest offering expected to be broadcast in the not too distant future!
Hell’s Kitchen betting took a bit of a beating in the third edition of the American version when unusual betting patterns were noticed at one of the biggest online betting sites. The odds on one of the contestants became suspiciously high, moving from 7-1 to 2-1 just before the show premiered and although the initial reaction was Hell’s Kitchen was fixed, it soon became apparent that members of the broadcasting team had prematurely let the cat out of the bag as to the identity of the winner. Since then security has been tightened immeasurably so don’t panic, your hard earned moola is safe in the hands of the bookmakers!
