Should you be expecting an upset at SW19 tomorrow, bookie Paddy Power is offering 17/1 that Russians Dinara Safina and Elena Dementieva pound the on the face of it unbeatable Williams sisters at Wimbledon.

When in the form that Serena and Venus have been in the last two weeks there are really few participants that can topple them and that is mirrored in the semi-final betting with Venus and Serena just 15/8 to win both their matches in straight sets.

Venus is 2/9 to win her match against world number one Safina whilst Serena is just 1/5 with Paddy Power to knockout Dementieva.

To hard to call?

Nevertheless the bookie can’t split the Williams sisters in the outright betting, giving both Serena and Venus 11/10 to win the Venus Rosewater Dish. Safina, who has yet to acquire a Grand Slam despite her world number one status, is 9/1 with Dementieva the 12/1 outsider.

Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: “No adult female appears able to come close to toppling the Williams sisters at SW19 – and the two Russians they are confronting in the semi-finals certainly both have question marks over their bottle to rise to such a huge occasion.”
