Britain’s Lewis Hamilton will be desperate for a win on his home turf on Sunday, it will mean the end of a two-race points duck and could very well propel him back in contention for the Formula One Championship race. He is currently ten points adrift of Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, who became the first Brazilian since the late Ayrton Senna to lead the Championship.
Ferrari- the Giants of Silverstone
The twenty-three year old McLaren driver will have his work cut out for him though, as arch rivals, Ferrari, have a distinguished track record at Silverstone - in the past five years the Italian team has won the British Grand Prix on three occasions!
The showdown at Silverstone marks the midway point of the current season and with 10 races and 100 points still up for grabs, there is little doubt Hamilton can make it to the very top of the Championship podium yet again.
From Pole Position to Podium
The 240 000 baying supporters expected at the track this week-end will be urging their ‘wonder boy’ on to become the first Briton, since David Coulthard in 2000, to win the home fixture. Hamilton stunned his army of fans last year when, in his rookie season, he stormed into pole position before finishing third, so there is absolutely no reason why the rising star of Formula One racing cannot claim the British Grand Prix on Sunday!
Online sports bookmaker, Bwin, is offering the following odds for a win at Silverstone - Lewis Hamilton 2.90, Kimi Raikkonen 3.00 and Felipe Massa 3.30.
