Ryder Cup - Faldo opts for experience over youthful enthusiasm for his Wild Cards

Now that the dust has settled on the last remaining event where Ryder Cup points were up for grabs, the Johnny Walker Championship at Gleneagles, Faldo will be confident his team of ten, plus the two newly announced wild cards, will put the screws on the hapless Americans for a record fourth consecutive time.

Faldo opted for slightly more experience when he chose Ian Poulter and Paul Casey as his wild cards but he must have thought long and hard about his options that included the awesomely talented and refreshingly enthusiastic Nick Dougherty, the adept long-hitting Ross Fisher and the concentration and control of Martin Kaymer. Fortunately these young men have long, exciting careers ahead of them and will surely be in contention for a Ryder Cup clash in the future.

It will be the first time in the long and illustrious history of the Ryder Cup that the European Team has managed to pull off four back-to-back victories if they are successful at Valhalla, and quite frankly they look set to dominate all over again.
