The US PGA Championship odds has Phil Mickelson as favourite to win his 4th Major tournament this week at the course known as ‘The Monster’ at Oakland Hills.

Pick: Phil MickelsonYes, his untidy finish at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational was a dyspeptic development, but Lefty has a way of rebounding that proves he is as resilient as any big-time player who ever competed. Whatever deficiencies reared up down the stretch at Firestone will undoubtedly be addressed by the 2005 PGA champion when the gun goes off Thursday at Oakland Hills.
One player who has been catching the eye all season and who has consistent results is American, Anthony Kim. He is twice a winner this year on tour and acquitted himself very well over the tough links of Royal Birkdale.

Pick: Anthony KimYou knew I was going to do it sooner or later . . . .so why not here at the Monster? Veege or Furyk or Paddy would be safe calls. Boo-Boo an outside option. And AK? There’s no time like the present. Game’s good. Maturity level rising exponentially. And he’s a lock on the Ryder Cup. The only way it gets better is holding the Wanamaker Sunday night.
Ladbrokes offers all new punters a £10 free bet.Top Europeans in the betting are headed by Sergio Garcia, while twice British Open Champion, Padraig Harrington, not far behind him. Punters should remember that no European has ever won the US PGA Championship - well not for the past 70 years that is.

Pick: Sergio GarciaI think Geoff Ogilvy is another top choice, but I’m going with the Spaniard. Garcia had a 4-0-1 record in the 2004 Ryder Cup at Oakland Hills. He is playing in one of the hottest groups — with the flashy “AK” belt buckle owner Anthony Kim and South American Spiderman, Camilo Villegas. I think the three will feed off of each other’s energy and Sergio, will join AK as a two-time 2008 champion with his first major title.
