The battle for the fourth and final major of international pro golf, the USPGA Championship, promises to be a right royal one. Pundits have warned the monster lurking in the hills and dales of Oakland Hills is sure to appear just in time to try the patience, tenacity and skill of the masters of the game.
Warm Weather Expected
With warm weather forecast for the remainder of the week, odds are the Par 70 course will live up to its frightening reputation first mooted by the legendary Ben Hogan. The only time the course has arguably played below par has been after rain when the fairways and greens have softened up a tad but this is not expected to be the case this week-end.
The legendary ‘bogey’ course is almost 7400 yards in length, very close to that of Augusta National, the traditional venue of the Masters, so punters can expect the long-hitters to come to the fore. The par threes, in particular, have been tipped as nothing short of brutal, so we can expect some wayward tee shots from the less accomplished!
