Russia versus Spain
Russia’s laid back striker, Roman Pavlyuchenko, could well signal the death knell for Luis Aragones’ Spanish team if he can keep up his impressive strike rate. Top scorer in the Russian league in the past two season, Pavlyuchenko, has scored three times in the championship and is arguably heading for his blistering best.
The Arshavin Effect
But that’s not all, Guus Hiddink, Russia’s Dutch coach, has another ace up his sleeve for the showdown on Thursday, in the form of Andrei Arshavin. The in-form midfielder missed the first two group matches due to suspension, but has returned to the heat of the battle with two goals and two man of the match performances!
Hiddink has assured fans his team would not be the pushover the world witnessed in their group match agains the ‘Red Fury’ when they were crushed 4-1, and this is partly due to the fact that attacking midfielder, Arshavin, has returned and the entire team is arguably only now reaching their peak.
Boylesports, premier Irish bookmaker, has recognised Arshavin’s ability to change the course of history and is offering ‘cashback’ on the upcoming battle between Russia and their Spanish counterparts, christened “Smart Arsh”. If Andrei Arshavin scores either the first or last goal in the 90 minutes of regular play, Boylesports will refund losing First/Last/Anytime Goalscorer, Correct score and Scorecast single bets!
