One doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist to predict the incumbent world number two in test cricket, Sri Lanka, will win the 2nd test in Colombo after they crushed New Zealand by 202 runs in the series opener in Galle.
Bet365 is, however, offering a range of live in-play betting markets that could prove to be rather lucrative to the astute cricket pundit including innings runs, batsman runs and the total runs in the next over.
Although Sri Lanka is 262/3 after day one, there has been an important twist in the batting tale, with the loss of first test ‘star’ batsman, Tillakaratne Dilshan, for a paltry 29 runs.
Dilshan personally put the hapless New Zealanders to the sword in Galle, scoring 92 and 123 runs in each innings but what was so enormously impressive was his strike rate – 127.77 and 93.86 respectively, figures unheard of in the test arena until recently.
Dilshan has taken his IPL T20 form and translated it into the longest form of the game, and what a spectacle he has produced for the home crowd.
The Sri Lankans, however, are in the enviable position of not having to rely on Dilshan alone for superior batting; they have Jayawardene (79) and Samaraweera (78) at the crease to continue the onslaught tomorrow.
Odds are the heat will really be on the Black Cap bowling attack that, apart from spin guru and captain, Daniel Vettori and the medium pace of Chris Martin, appears to be a bit light!
Tomorrow’s foray at the wicket should be more than entertaining with both batsmen aiming for centuries. Can Vettori turn the innings and 2nd test around, or will Sri Lanka continue in rampant fashion?
