Six Nations Winners

Every Six Nations team, with the exception of Italy, has claimed a title during the long history of rugby’s biggest regional championship. England is the most successful nation in the history of the tournament, having won the Six Nations or one of its predecessors on 25 occasions. Wales has achieved the second most outright wins in the tournament, with 24 titles.

After a slow start the French are hot on England and Wales’ heels, having won the tournament 17 times since they claimed their first outright win in 1959. Scotland has won the Six Nations 14 times, while Ireland has been the least successful Celtic team, only claiming 10 outright wins during the history of the tournament.

Six Nations Grand Slam Winners

England has achieved the greatest number of grand slam titles at the Six Nations, having taken 12 grand slams since 1913. The Welsh are the second most prolific scorers of Six Nations grand slam victories, with 11 grand slam titles to their name. France has achieved an impressive tally of 8 grand slam wins, averaging almost two a decade, while Scotland has only claimed three. Ireland has achieved two grand slams during the history of the Six Nations.

Six Nations Triple Crown Winners

While a Six Nations grand slam is the biggest prize in European rugby, a Triple Crown is also considered to be an important achievement. England has won 23 Triple Crowns during the history of the Six Nations Championship, with Wales close behind on 20 Triple Crown wins. Scotland has taken the Triple Crown on 10 occasions, while Ireland has won the Triple Crown 9 times.
