The Duke of Edinburgh Stakes is a relatively recent addition to the Royal Ascot meeting. First run in 1973, the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes is named after Prince Phillip, the Royal Consort of Queen Elizabeth II.
Sir Michael Stoute has come to the fore as one of the most successful trainers in the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes over the past decade. Stoute has won the race twice and placed twice since the turn of the Millenium.
