The 2010-11 Premier League season kicks off on the 14th of August 2010 and will conclude on the 22nd of May 2011. During the course of the tournament competing clubs will play 380 matches at twenty venues in the United Kingdom.
The 2010-11 Premier League format remains unchanged from that used in the previous season. Twenty clubs will compete for the Premier League title in a round-robin tournament which will see every team play each of its fellow league members on a home-and-away basis.
The season is nominally divided into two portions, with the first half of the season ending in January, and the second round of return fixtures commencing the same month. There is a ten day break from Premiership football during this period.
The 2010-11 Premier League season features two transfer windows. The first transfer window closes on the 31st of August 2010, approximately two weeks into the new season. The transfer window then re-opens on the 1st of January until the 2nd of February.
The 2010-11 Premier League transfer rules do not apply to club managers. Managers of Premier League clubs can be released or hired at short notice at the discretion of club owners and investors. Furthermore youth-squad players are eligible to transfer into the senior team without prior notice.
Sky Sports is the primary broadcaster for the 2010-11 Premier League season, and will broadcast all 380 matches this season. ESPN has acquired the rights to broadcast 23 matches this season, as well as broadcast rights for the Asian Market.
Football fans in the United States can view Premier League matches on the Fox Soccer Channel, while Fox also holds the broadcast rights for the tournament in Australia. The BBC has a license to broadcast a weekly Premier League highlights package.
