By the end of the 1990s Carlos Mortensen had outgrown the tiny Spanish poker scene, and made the decision to move to Las Vegas to join the professional poker circuit. In 2000 Carlos Mortensen was sponsored by a group of Spanish players to play in his first World Series of Poker, in which he finished 7th in a No Limit Hold ‘em event.
A year later he was back at the World Series of Poker. With more experience beneath his belt, and three tournament titles to his name, Carlos Mortensen had become a force to be reckoned with. Carlos Mortensen is considered to be one of the most intimidating players on the circuit by his opponents.
