The 2010 Supreme Novices Hurdle gets the action underway at the 2010 Cheltenham Festival as some of the most talented hurdles novices in national hunt racing set out on a 2 mile 110 yard trip around Cheltenham Racecourse.
2010 Supreme Novices Hurdle Favourites
1. Dunguib:
Dunguib has emerged as a banker ahead of the 2010 Supreme Novices Hurdle. The Phillip Fenton trained 7-year-old is trading below evens across the board, and there were even rumours of him being switched to the Champion Hurdle to take on Go Native. Common sense prevailed, however, and at a best price of 4/6 with Paddy Power, and with five wins from his last six races he’s going to have some strong backing come Tuesday.
2. Get Me Out of Here:
Jonjo O’Neill’s Get Me Out of Here looks to be the value each-way betting option for the Supreme Novices Hurdle. Trading at a best price of 6/1 at Canbet, he’s never lost a race and could put in a serious challenge for Grade 1 glory at Cheltenham. However, it’s worth keeping in mind that he’s untested against many of the other class hurdlers in this race, and we’ll have a better idea of his potential post-Cheltenham Festival.
3. Rite of Passage
Rite of Passage doesn’t look be of quite the same quality as Dunguib and Get Me Out of Here. Dermott Weld’s entry has cut his national hunt teeth in Ireland and comes into the 2010 Supreme Novices Hurdle on the back of four consecutive wins. Much will depend on how he takes to the Cheltenham track, but given the success rate of Irish horses at the festival in recent years there will be few betting against him if he takes part in the race. At 8/1 at Betfred he’s another great each-way prospect.
Long Shots
Considering that a favourite hasn’t won the Supreme Novices Hurdle in five years it’s worth taking a look at horses that could cause an upset in this race. Peddlar’s Cross and Oscar’s Whisky are both priced over 10/1 and come into the race unbeaten. Two other horses showing solid form ahead of the race are Flat Out with five places and three wins from his last five starts and Dan Breen, who has also won his last three races, both of whom can be backed at 20/1.
2010 Supreme Novices Hurdle Betting Tip
A favourite hasn’t won the Supreme Novices Hurdle in five years, so we’re going to take the banker for this race and place a lay bet on him at Betfair. Back bets on this race are a bit too speculative for our liking, but if we had to choose a horse to back each-way we’d go with Get Me Out of Here, who should be good to place in this race.
2010 Supreme Novices Hurdle Betting Promotions
Bookies aren’t giving an inch for the opening event of the 2010 Cheltenham Festival and are offering each-way payouts to third place across the board for this race. Fortunately Paddy Power came to the rescue and is offering a brilliant deal for this race, and will refund all losing win singles if Dunguib fails to win the 2010 Supreme Novices Hurdle.
