The 2010 Kentucky Derby will launch the Triple Crown series on the 1st of May 2010.
The Kentucky Derby has produced a strong antepost favourite in 2010. However, punters will be wary of bets on the favourite in a race prone to major upsets.
2010 Kentucky Derby Favourites
1. Lookin At Lucky
Lookin At Lucky has emerged as a strong favourite ahead of the 2010 Kentucky Derby. In eight starts he’s won six and placed in the other two, and comes into the 2010 Kentucky Derby with three Grade 1 and two Grade 2 wins beneath his belt. However, the picture isn’t perfect, as he achieved his poorest result in his last outing, finishing third in the Santa Anita Derby.
2. Sidney’s Candy
Sidney’s Candy is trading alot further back than Lookin At Lucky in the 2010 Kentucky Derby betting markets. However, punters won’t be complaining as he’s trading high enough to return on an each-way or place bet, and had the beating of Lookin At Lucky in his most recent race, the Santa Anita Derby. He’s won three out of three career races to date, but has never been tested outside of Santa Anita Racecourse.
3. Awesome Act
Awesome Act is 2010 Kentucky Derby entry with a knack for placing rather than winning. In eight starts he’s placed four times and won twice. Form coming into the 2010 Kentucky Derby isn’t overly compelling with a win, a single place in his last four starts. He’s never won at Grade 1 or Grade 2 level and looks the most speculative bet amongst the favourites.
Long Shots
Line of David is one of the form entries coming into the 2010 Kentucky Derby. Priced high enough to provide a generous return on each-way bets if he places at Churchill Downs, Line od David comes into the Kentucky Derby on back of three wins, including an impressive Grade 1 win in his most recent race, the Arkansas Derby.
2010 Kentucky Derby Betting Tips
We’re not convinced that Lookin At Lucky has what it takes to win the Kentucky Derby and would suggest a lay bet on him at Betfair. Our other betting tip is to go with an each-way punt on Sidney’s Choice. He’s a quality horse, and should have what it takes to make the places, if not win, the 2010 Kentucky Derby.
