The Gordon Stakes is a group 3 race run during the Glorious Goodwood meeting. Entry to the Gordon Stakes is restricted to 3 year old thoroughbreds, and the race is run over a distance of 1 mile 4 furlongs on Goodwood Racecourse.
The Gordon Stakes dates back to 1902 and is named after the Duke of Gordon, one of the titles held by the Duke of Richmond, who first set up thoroughbred racing facilities on his Goodwood estates. The race is recognised as being the most important trial for the final Classic of the season, the St Leger Stakes.

Gordon Stakes Winners
The Gordon Stakes has produced 9 St Leger Winners during its history. Amongst the most impressive of these was the 2008 Gordon Stakes winner, Conduit, who won Sir Michael Stoute his first St Leger race. After this he took the American thoroughbred racing community by surprise when he won the 2008 Breeders Cup Turf.
