Prix de Diane Betting Tips

The Prix de Diane is the second of the major French Classic betting events to take place at Chantilly racecourse every year. With many of the competing 3 year old thoroughbred fillies still finding their feet after the winter break, the Prix de Diane tends to offer great value to punters prepared to do their homework.

Some of the trends which have emerged in the Prix de Diane in recent years can be used by punters to narrow down the entries which have genuine potential to win France’s answer to the Epsom Oaks.

Prix de Diane Tips

  • Good form prior to the Prix de Diane tends to translate into good performances in the race. Thus fillies on winning streaks, or coming into the race on the back of a group one win, deserve special consideration when betting on the Prix de Diane.
  • The Prix de Diane is run in the aftermath of both the Irish 2,000 Guineas and the Newmarket Guineas, and entries from these races often cross the channel to race in the French Classic.

A good showing in the Guineas does tend to result in a good performance at Chantilly, however, punters should keep ground conditions in mind when assessing whether form will be carried over from the Irish Classics and English Classics to the Prix de Diane.
