Bruno Senna Profile

As the nephew of former Formula One champion, Bruno Senna has big shoes to fill as he enters the sport for his first season as a driver. Bruno Senna began racing at an early age, taking on his famous uncle, Aytron, in kart races on the family farm in Brazil. His career as an aspiring race driver was brought to an abrupt halt in 1993 by the death of Ayrton Senna at the San Marino Grand Prix.

Bruno Senna would not race again competitively until 2004, when he competed for the Carlin Motorsport team. Senna moved to Formula 3 the following season, and spent two seasons in the sport, winning several races, and surviving a horrific crash at Snetterton.

In 2007 Senna moved to GP2 racing with a view towards securing a place in Formula One racing. The Brazilian raced impressively during his debut season in GP2, and eventually finished the year in 8th place. The following season brought better results for Senna, as he won two races on the way to securing second place in the series.

During the 2008 season Senna attempted to break into Formula One racing by testing with the Honda team. Despite performing well in testing, Senna ended up as a casualty of the Brawn buyout of Honda the following season, with Ross Brawn handing the free seat in his new team to the more experienced Rubens Barcihello.

As a result of pursuing his Formula One ambitions, Senna was forced to sit out the entire 2009 racing season. His patience paid dividends towards the end of the season, when it was announced that several new teams would be joining the Constructors Championship for the 2010 season.

After being linked to a number of the new teams, Bruno Senna announced that he would be racing for the Spanish Campos Meta team during their first season in Formula One racing.
