Tom Scudamore - Jockey Tom Scudamore is one of the most promising jump jockeys in Ireland. Scudamore represents the 3rd generation of Scudamore jumps jockeys, and is the son of famous jockey Peter Scudamore. The young jockey does most of his racing for the stable owned by his family, but also works with the stable of David Pipe.

Racing Profile:

Tom Scudamore broke onto the national hunt scene as a professional jockey in 2001. Scudamore arrived in national hunt racing as the reigning British amateur champion jockey, and much was expected of him given both his early achievements as a jockey and his racing pedigree.

Scudamore began his professional racing career at Martin Pipe’s stables, and struggled during his first several years in national hunt racing. Eventually, a series of poor results forced Scudamore to look to his father’s stable for additional work. Scudamore’s career improved in 2003, helped by some impressive performances in major national hunt races.

Achievements:

Tom Scudamore is yet to follow in his father’s footsteps and claim a champion jockey title, or one of the major national hunt races. However, it is only a matter of time before Scudamore will break through in a major national hunt race, as he came within half a length of winning the King George VI Chase on Monkerhostin in 2003.

Scudamore has won three important national hunt races in his career, which includes the Grade 1 Long Walk Hurdle in 2007 and the Grade 1 Victor Chandler Chase in 2008. The biggest win of Scudamore’s career to date was on Desert Air, in the Ladbrokes Handicap Hurdle.

Tom Scudamore is the son of eight times Champion Jockey title winner Peter Scudamore, and the grandson of 1959 Grand National winner Michael Scudamore. Scudamore is married to Charlotte Stucley and has two daughters. He lives with his family in rural Gloucestershire.
