Arkle Challenge Trophy History and Winners

The Arkle Challenge Trophy was first raced in 1946 as the Cotswold Chase. The event was renamed in 1969 to honour Arkle, the legendary Irish racehorse who won three Cheltenham Gold Cups in his career.

The Arkle Challenge Trophy has proved to be something of a nursery for Queen Mother Champion Chase winners, with seven winners of the race going on to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase, including Moscow Flyer and Voy Por Ustedes.
