Breeders Cup Ladies Classic Betting Tips

The Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic is an opportunity to see some of the world’s finest fillies and mares in action as they compete in this weight for age handicap. Originally known as the Breeders’ Cup Distaff, the race has attracted a number of champion fillies during its history.

The Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic is raced over dirt, which means that European thoroughbreds are underrepresented amongst both the entries and winners of the race. The following Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic betting trends have emerged during the history of the race:

Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic Tips

  • While the Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic is an open-age race, the weight for age handicap has a marked effect on proceedings, with the vast majority of race winners aged 3 or 4. 4 years olds are the dominant age group in the race, winning around 60% of all runnings of the Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic.
  • While European thoroughbreds are occasionally entered in the Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic as trainers attempt to land the multi-million dollar purse, they rarely fare well, and the race has never been won by a European trained racecourse.
  • The Delaware Handicap, Ruffian Handicap, the Lady’s Secret Stakes and the Juddmonte Spinster Stakes are the key trial races for the Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic. All but the Delaware Handicap have produced a Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic winner in the past decade.
