Breeders Cup Filly & Mare Turf History
The Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf is not one of the original Breeders’ Cup series races, and was only added to the racing schedule in 1999. During its history the race has been a happy hunting ground for European trainers and owners, whose entries have claimed several titles.
The most successful horse in the history of the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf is Ouija Board, who won the race as a 3-year-old, then again as a 5-year-old. Trainers Ed Dunlop and Robert Frankel have both claimed two Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf titles apiece.
