Wales meets its World Cup nemesis, Samoa, at the 2011 Rugby World Cup this weekend. The Samoans have a history of burying Wales’ World Cup hopes in previous tournaments, and they could eliminate the Welsh from the tournament with another win in this match.

Wales and Samoa have met just once in the past decade, with the Welsh sneaking past the Samoans 17-13 at the Millennium Stadium. However, Wales will be thinking of the previous occasion on which Samoa showed them the World Cup exit – the 1991 World Cup – as well as the 1999 World Cup where they beat Wales in Cardiff.
Wales, however, should be feeling quite confident ahead of this match. While the team lost to South Africa by 1 point in the opening match, they had clear dominance in many departments, and it was only their much-hyped backline that failed to fire.
