2011 Liverpool Hurdle Preview & Tips

Posted on by editor

The 2011 Liverpool hurdle is set to feature one of the biggest stars of national hunt racing as reigning Champion Hurdle champion, Big Buck’s, looks to continue his unbeaten run in Grade 1 hurdles races.

2011 Liverpool Hurdle Race Favourites

1. Big Buck’s
Big Buck’s comes into the 2011 Liverpool Hurdle unbeaten in eleven races. Easily the best hurdler racing in the UK at present, Big Buck’s confirmed his star status by beating Grand Crus by almost 2 lengths in the Cheltenham Champion Hurdle last month. He’s best priced at 8/13 by Paddy Power.

2. Grand Crus
Grand Crus is a quality hurdler in his own right, with four wins and three second places from his seven races to date. He pushed Big Buck’s all the way in the 2011 Champion Hurdle, almost adding that title to his Grade 2 Cleeve Hurdle title. Priced at 3/1 by Paddy Power he’s priced too low for an each-way bet, and doesn’t look like top value for a straight back bet.

3. Carlito Brigante
Carlito Brigante has won a couple of Grade 1 and Grade 2 hurdles races, but most recently scored in the 2011 Coral Cup at Cheltenham. He’s a consistent performer with five wins and two second places from his ten races to date. While he doesn’t look like a genuine challenger to Big Buck’s he does offer value on each way bets at odds of 10/1 at Paddy Power.

2011 Liverpool Hurdle Long Shots

Khyber King may not have been getting the results lately, but he’s the only horse outside the top three in the betting who could seriously challenge Big Buck’s in the Liverpool Hurdle. Paddy Power is offering him at a price of 14/1, odds that are tough to ignore for each-way bets on the horse that won the Aintree Hurdle at the Grand National Meeting last season.
