Ireland will be in search of its first win since the Six Nations when it faces the USA in its 2011 Rugby World Cup opener.

Ireland and the USA have met just twice in the past decade, with Ireland winning both of these encounters. Ireland’s home game produced a huge victory, while their visit to the States in 2007 produced a more respectable 17 point victory.
Ireland has lost all four of its warm up matches ahead of the 2011 Rugby World Cup, losing to Scotland, twice to France and once to England. Without a single win in preparation for the tournament, confidence in the Irish camp must be low.
