Australia will be looking to rebuild some momentum at the 2011 Rugby World Cup on Friday when they meet up against a plucky USA side.
Australia and the United States haven’t met once in the past decade, and in the previous six matches Australia has emerged as the victor each time.
Australia comes into this match following a bruising defeat to Ireland, who demonstrated to the other teams at the tournament how to nullify the talented Wallaby playmakers.
Australia failed to bring Will Genia, Quade Cooper or Curtley Beale into play in their last match, conceding their first loss since losing to New Zealand in the first round of the Tri Nations. The Wallabies will therefore be looking for a big performance from their forwards against the USA team.
The United States has played well at the 2011 Rugby World Cup, and comes into Friday’s match following an impressive victory over Russia in a tough game.
The American forwards have impressed at the tournament to date, and look like they can stand up to the Australian pack. Even the backline showed some spark against Russia, producing one of the tries of the tournament.
Australia is looking for a big win in this match, and the USA will be looking to defend its pride against one of the giants of world rugby.
While an Australian victory is a virtual certainty, the United States are going to make the Wallabies fight every inch of the way, and fans will probably have to wait until the second half for the floodgates to open.
Our Australia vs. United States betting tip is to take a look at the handicap betting markets where +53.5 points is being offered on the American handicap win. Judging by what we’ve seen at the tournament to date, the USA could well have the ability to prevent a loss of that magnitude, and our betting tip is to back them at odds of 1/1 at this handicap.
