2011 Tercentenary Stakes Preview & Tips
The Hampton Court Stakes has been renamed for the Ascot tercentenary as the Tercentenary Stakes. Only the name has changed, with a small field set to take on the 1 mile 2 furlong distance in this Group 3 race for stayers.
2011 Tercentenary Stakes Race Favourites
1. Marksmanship
One win in one race this season has been enough to put Marksmanship in pole position for the 2011 Tercentenary Stakes. Strong backing has pushed him to the front of the market, but that one race is hardly enough to form an accurate impression of his ability. At 9/2 at William Hill he may be worth a back bet, as he’ll return a small profit on a place for each-way bets.
2. Alkimos
Alkimos has won two of his last three races, including wins in his last two. He’s very comfortable over 10 furlongs and shouldn’t have any problems with the size of the field. His gate position may have something to do with his price, and at 5/1 at Paddy Power he’s done enough to deserve consideration for an each-way punt.
3. Tazahum
Tazahum has three wins and a second place from four races in his career. While these stats are impressive enough, he’s never raced further than 8 miles, and there’s no telling how he’ll handle the 10 furlongs in the Tercentenary Stales. Trading around 5/1, he looks like a good lay betting option.
2011 Tercentenary Stakes Long Shots
Moriarty deserves to be in the betting mix for the 2011 Tercentenary Stakes. He finished second in a Group 3 race last time out, and has finished outside the places just once in six career races, taking two wins in the process. Priced 16/1 at Betfred he looks like a great each-way option.
