2011 Sandringham Stakes Preview & Tips
The second day of the 2011 Royal Meeting concludes with a 1 mile handicap for fillies.
2011 Sandringham Stakes Race Favourites
1. Dubai Queen
Dubai Queen heads the betting in this handicap. She’s won once and placed twice in four outings, and with a weight 4lbs lighter than she carried in her last outing, and 1lbs less than she carried in her only victory, she’s travelling on her mark and should be able to make the best of her talents in this race. Bet365 is offering 4/1 on her, which looks like excellent each-way to nothing value.
2. Humdrum
Humdrum has finished outside the top two just once in seven starts, and won both her races coming into the 2011 Sandringham Stakes. She’s travelling a couple of pounds lighter than she was in any of her three wins to date, and looks like a genuine threat to the race favourite. At odds of 5/1 at Bet365, she’s another good each-way option.
3. Winter’s Night
Winter’s Night is something of a hit-and-miss filly with three wins from six starts, and one third place. She’s never won carrying more than 8-6, and is likely to run with at least 9st on Wednesday. The last time she ran carrying 9st she finished 5th, and her worst finish, in 6th, came under 8-12. With this in mind she doesn’t look a great bet. And priced under 8/1 is an excellent lay bet option.
2011 Sandringham Stakes Long Shots
The top two look fairly solid for this race, but Sweetie Time looks like she just might crash the party. She’s finished in the top three in her last three races, taking one win in the process. She’s running with 8-10 onboard, and this may free her to push to the front. At 25/1 at Ladbrokes she offers super each-way value.
2011 Sandringham Stakes Betting Tips
There are several options for cashing in on this race, ranging from a lay bet on Winter’s Night to a each-way punt on Sweetie Time. However, we just like the look of Humdrum in this race, as she has both the form, track record and weight to pull this off.
