2011 Royal Hunt Cup Preview & Tips
The Royal Hunt Cup is the most prestigious of the handicaps run at the 2011 Royal Meeting, and excellent destination for punters looking for bigger prices.
2011 Royal Hunt Cup Race Favourites
1. Green Destiny
Green Destiny races infrequently but with excellent results. He’s won three of his last three starts, is a specialist miler and should have no problems handling the 9 stone handicap he’s been handed for this race. At odds of 8/1 at Paddy Power he looks as close to a bankable favourite as you’ll find in handicaps.
2. Start Right
Start Right hasn’t won a race since July of 2010 and has placed in just one of his last four races. He achieved a third place finish in the recent Investec Stakes carrying over 9 stone, and will be a couple of pounds lighter on Wednesday. He doesn’t look a likely winner but may not be the worst each-way or place option at a price of 8/1 at William Hill.
3. Dance And Dance
Dance And Dance comes into the 2011 Royal Hunt Cup on the back of a win in the Investec Mile at Epsom. While he’s prone to the occasional bad day at the office, he’s a fairly consistent performer with two wins and two places from his last five starts. He’s trading as high as 12/1 at Paddy Power, is travelling a pound lighter than he did last time out, and look like decent enough value for each-way bets.
2011 Royal Hunt Cup Long Shots
Virtually any horse in the field could take this race, but Eton Forever is closest to the profile of the other horses that have travelled to the top of the betting markets. He’s won two and placed once in his last five starts, and achieved a race win in early April. He’s won a race carrying 3 pounds more than he will carry on Wednesday, and could be a threat if he makes the final field.
