2010 RSA Chase Betting Tips & Preview

Posted on by editor

The 2010 RSA Chase will provide one of the Grade 1 novices’ chase highlights of the 2010 Cheltenham Festival.

This 3 mile 110 yard chase has blooded some of the sport’s stars in the past, and we’re looking forward to see which horse emerges as one of the potential future stars of the chase circuit in 2010.

2010 RSA Chase Race Favourites

1. Long Run
Nicky Henderson has a real banker lined up for the 2010 RSA Chase in the form of French raider, Long Run. A winner in five of his last six starts, Long Run has never finished outside the top three during his career, and has failed to win just one of six his starts over fences. The only problem with the entry is his price.

At a best price of 23/10 at Betfair, your only legitimate betting option with this horse is to place a straightforward win bet on him. It is worth noting that Long Run has done most of his racing in Auteuil, France, and may struggle to adapt to turf conditions at Cheltenham.

2. Punchestowns
Punchestowns, by contrast, is no stranger to Cheltenham. Nicky Henderson’s classy hurdler has taken the step up to fences and comes into the 2010 RSA Chase with two wins from two starts in chases. Punters may remember Punchestowns as the 2009 World Hurdle favourite, and his connections are optimistic that he can score his first Grade 1 chase win at Cheltenham on Wednesday. At a best price of 10/3 at William Hill you can look to provide something of a hedge on this entry with an each-way bet.

3. Diamond Harry
There’s no doubting that Nick Williams’ entry has talent. Diamond Harry has never finished outside the places in his career and has won both of his starts over fences. He finished with a place in the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle at the 2009 Cheltenham Festival, and at 7/1 at Bet365 is the best value each-way bet on the card for the 2010 RSA Chase.

2010 RSA Chase Long Shots

This isn’t a race for long shots, with the top three in the betting rewarding punters year after year. At a push we’d back Willie Mullins’ Shakervilz as our long shot each-way bet. Trading at over 200/1 at Betfair, he’s a form entry with two wins from his last two starts.

2010 RSA Chase Betting Tips

We’re going to let the betting markets dictate our bets for the 2010 RSA Chase by placing back bets on both Long Run and Punchestowns, backed up with an each-way punt on Diamond Harry.

The forecast market may also be worth a look for this race, with a bet on Long Run and Punchestowns taking the 1-2 in any order paying out at better than evens.

2010 RSA Chase Betting Specials

The 2010 RSA Chase could be won by a nose. With this in mind, we think it’s worth taking a look at the odds offered by 888Sport. This bookie is offering the Photo Finish betting special and will refund losing bets on horses that lose in a photo finish. Given that this is a chase, you may also want to take advantage of Sportingbet‘s refunds on fallers in any Cheltenham Festival race.
