The third day of the 2010 Cheltenham Festival ends with a race for amateur jockeys, the Kim Muir Challenge Cup.
Known as one of the most unpredictable races at the Cheltenham Festival the 2010 Kim Muir Challenge Cup is wide open for punters looking to score off speculative bets.
1. Ballabriggs:
Donald McCain’s Ballabriggs has been pushed to the head of betting for the 2010 Kim Muir Challenge Cup by some imperious performances in handicaps over recent months. He comes into the race with two wins and a place form his last three starts, with two of these results achieved while carrying top weight. He’s going for 8/1 at William Hill and looks a good bet for a race paying to 4th place.
2. Shillingstone
Shillingstone has been impressive in his short career to date, taking three wins and two second places in six races. He’ll be carrying 1lb more than he’s used to at Cheltenham on Thursday evening, but still looks like an interesting each-way or place option given that he’s on offer for 10/1 at Paddy Power.
3. Gallant Nuit:
French raider, Gallant Nuit, looks like a more speculative bet. His low price looks to be the result of a win at his last Cheltenham outing in November. He’s at his best when carrying less than 11st, which means he’s unlikely to impress carrying 11st 5lbs in the 2010 Kim Muir Challenge Cup. Priced at 12/1 at totesport he looks more worthy of a lay bet than backing.
Literally any runner in the field could take the 2010 Kim Muir Challenge Cup.
Past results tell us that weights don’t play a major role in this race which leaves the event wide open. With this in mind we like the look of Jonjo O’Neill’s Nostringsattached. He’ll be carrying 11st 8lbs, but comes into the 2010 Kim Muir Challenge having finished in the top two in his last five races and has only finished outside the places in two of his seven chases. Priced at 16/1 by Boylesports he’s a great each-way proposition.
We’re going to lay Gallant Nuit at Betfair if we can find a match for a reasonably low liability lay bet. We’ll then put a small each-way punt on Nostringsattached to make a place at Cheltenham on Thursday evening.
The 2010 Cheltenham Festival is a great time to cash in on special free bet offers. William Hill is one bookie offering an enhanced free bet package for the duration of the festival. If you open an account with William Hill during the meeting, this top rated bookie will give you a £60 free bet if you deposit and bet £20.
