Swansea welcomes Fulham to the Liberty Stadium on Saturday for their first clash since meeting twice in the FA Cup back in 2009.
Those two FA Cup clashes between Swansea and Fulham in the 5th Round of the 2008-09 FA Cup were the only meetings between the sides in the past decade. These matches produced a draw at the Liberty Stadium and a 2-1 win for Fulham in the replay.
After a promising start to the season, Swansea is starting to flag under the relentless pressure of top flight football. The club has won just one of its last five matches, losing two and drawing two. These results have partly been due to the caliber of the opposition, with Swansea losing to Man United and drawing with Liverpool.
Swansea have scored 5 goals in their last five fixtures, failing to score in three of these matches. Defence has done well enough to let only 6 goals while their strikers have failed to put the opposition under pressure.
Fulham’s results aren’t much better, like Swansea the Cottagers have won once in their last four matches, and their record for the last five reads two draws, two losses and a single win. However, they’ll take confidence from the fact that their win was achieved at the last outing when they defeated a high-flying Liverpool 1-0.
Fulham are the lowest scoring team in the Premiership at the moment, with just 3 goals from their last five matches. Defence has had to do a lot of hard work, and has done well to restrict the number of goals conceded to 5 in five matches.
Fulham looks the likelier winner for this match given their win over Liverpool last weekend, and the solid defence. However, their strikers are going to need to come to the party to get a win over Swansea.
If anything this match looks like heading to a draw – and a low scoring one. We can’t quite see two tame attacks with relatively solid defences behind them breaking loose in a goal-scoring flurry, and our Swansea vs. Fulham betting tip is therefore to back under 2.75 goals being scored in the over/under goals market.
