Arsenal will look to bounce back from a bad couple of weeks in the Premier League when they host Aston Villa at the Emirates in the FA Cup 4th Round this Sunday.
Arsenal has beaten Aston Villa five times in their last ten meetings, with two wins going to Villa and three matches ending with level scores. Both of Aston Villa’s wins were achieved while playing Arsenal at the Emirates.
These wins includes Aston Villa’s most recent trip to Arsenal, when they defeated the Gunners 2-1.
Arsenal have watched their dreams of a Premiership title go up in smoke in the last several weeks.Three defeats and two wins in five matches have seen the Gunners fall to 5th place in the Premiership standings – and well behind League leaders Man City – and secure a place in the FA Cup 4th Round with a win over Leeds.
Arsenal’s woes start at the front, with the Gunners forwards scoring just 6 goals in five games. Defence has kept up the poor form, letting in 7 goals during this time.
Aston Villa will be happy enough with their efforts over recent weeks, with three wins, a draw and a defeat to show for their last five matches, with their wins including a defeat of Chelsea.
Villa have been strong in the forwards, scoring an average of 2 goals a game over their last five matches. Their efforts have covered for some terrible defending, with 8 goals conceded in this time.
Arsenal won’t be too confident coming into this fixture. Not only do Villa routinely win at the Emirates, but the Gunners are in poor form, and are struggling to score goals. However, they may well be thinking of targeting the FA Cup for some strong performances as they look to keep their silverware hopes alive.
The Villa defence is certainly rickety enough to allow the Arsenal forwards some space. Furthermore, Arsenal should be able to clam up if the situation demands it.
This will be a tight game, and is a tough one to call. Our money’s on the Gunners though – they have the players, the home support and the motivation, and our Arsenal vs. Aston Villa betting tip is to back them in the match betting markets.
