5 Texas Hold ‘em Tips
It’s difficult to quantify Texas Hold ‘em tips – each game is different and each player is different. One of the best tips we can suggest for Texas Hold ‘em is to not get too involved in the game.
Not that you shouldn’t pay attention or that you should try to be indifferent – more that bad hands happen (as do good ones) – the idea is to take it all in your stride and concentrate on the hand in front of you.

One common reference to playing badly that poker players will make is known as being on a tilt. This basically means that your play style has altered due to the turn of the game.
For example, it is common in Texas Hold ‘em to get a run of bad hands (or even bad beats – where a good hand has been beaten late in the game by a lucky draw). When asked, most people will tell you that the worst hand in Texas Hold ‘em is 7 3 offsuit or 8 4 offsuit. Well this isn’t the case.
The worst hand in Texas Hold ‘em is the second best hand at the table.
You won’t lose half your stack with 7 3 offsuit, but those pocket 10′s could clean you out.
Knowing when to fold is the best skill a poker player can learn – you need to think about what other people are likely to be betting on – pocket 10′s may be nice but if the flop is KKA then you are in trouble.

Texas Holdem Tip 4 – low stakes tournaments
Low stakes tournaments are notoriously bad for Texas Hold ‘em players. Why? Because until the buy ins close they are a nightmare of an all-in fest!!
Because the stakes are low, people are more willing to take risks – so instead of betting normally, they will simply throw all their chips in.
For you, this means the game is a nightmare to play – hands that you otherwise might play with need to be folded. However there is a flip side.
A patient Texas Hold ‘em player can bide his time during the frantic all in period of the game – a few choice plays can increase your stack and secure your place in the closing rounds of the tournament.

Texas Hold ‘em Tip 5 – when not to bluff
Yes, bluffing in Texas Hold ‘em is one of the core concepts that can lead to success. However, bluffing can also be your downfall.
At any given Texas Hold ‘em table, your opponents will be keeping note of how you play to judge your actions later in the game. You don’t want to tip them off that you might be bluffing.
Essentially, if you’ve been caught out on a bluff recently, then it would be very foolish to try and bluff again soon – your “outing” will mean that other players are more likely to call your bluff.
Top tip – you can also use this situation to your advantage by over-betting a strong hand – people are more likely to think you are bluffing and as such are more likely to call your good hand!
