online blackjack gameBlackjack, also commonly known as 21 is a hugely popular casino game that is played all around the globe. Being extremely simple to pick up, Blackjack is a great quick game that mixes skill and chance in one perfect package. Whilst Blackjack has always been traditionally played in casinos, many online gambling sites now offer a fully randomised and safe online version. If you’re considering playing Online Blackjack Games, here are the basic rules, as well as a few hints and tips to get you going.

The Basics

The basic point of the game is to get a hand that is worth 21 points without exceeding 21. To start, each player at the table is dealt 2 cards and they must decide if they want to stand (take no more cards) or hit (take another card to help you get closer to 21). You win if your final hand is closer to the value of 21 than the dealers.

The number of points you have is dictated by the cards you have in your hand. Cards 2-9 are worth their face value (suits are irrelevant in blackjack) and 10 through to King are worth 10 points. The Ace card is unique as it can either be used as a 10 or 1 – you decide on which works to your advantage.

Strategy

Through playing a few games of blackjack, you can quickly pick up the rhythm of the game. There are some basic ideas that are essential if you want to have a chance of beating the dealer:

  1. If the score of your hand is between 17 and 21 – stand
  2. If you hold two 8’s – 16 points – split (this will allow you to keep one of the cards to begin the next round with.
  3. If the score of your hand is between 13 and 16 and the dealer’s up card is higher than 6, you should hit.
  4. If the score of your hand is between 13 and 16 and the dealer’s up card is between 2 and 6, you should always stand
  5. If the value of your hand is 12 and the dealer’s up card is 2, 3, 7 or above, you should always hit.
  6. If your hand adds up to 12 points and the dealers up card is a 4, 5 or 6 – stand.
  7. Any hand that scores 12 or lower – always hit.

Whilst there is a certain degree of skill in blackjack, luck plays a huge part in it. This means that there is no fool proof method of beating the game.

It’s always advised that you begin playing for free as this will allow you to get a grip of how the game works. If and when you decide to play for real money, it’s essential you make small wagers, never risking a significant amount of your money.
