2011 Triumph Hurdle Preview & Tips
The 2011 Triumph Hurdle is the last high profile hurdles event of the Cheltenham Festival.
2011 Triumph Hurdle Race Favourites
1. Grandouet
French raider, Grandouet, tops the betting charts for the 2011 Triumph Hurdle. In seven races over hurdles he has won three and placed in three, and already has a second place at Cheltenham this season (behind third favourite, Sam Winner). 888Sport has him at 7/1 – decent each way value on a reliable runner.
2. Zarkandar
Zarkandar was a decent runner over flat before making the transition to hurdles. He’s since won one race in one start, taking the Grade 2 Adonis Juvenile hurdle at first attempt. He’s best priced by Paddy Power at 7/1.
3. Sam Winner
Sam Winner looks an interesting proposition. He’s won two and placed in three of his six starts over hurdles, and has already won two races at Cheltenham. What’s more, he beat Triumph Hurdle favourite, Grandouet, at Cheltenham in November in the Grade 2 Triumph Hurdle Trial. He’s hard to resist at a price of 9/1 at William Hill.
2011 Triumph Hurdle Long Shots
The Triumph Hurdle usually falls to one of the favourites, but there’s plenty of value on offer for places in this race. Unaccompanied is an interesting option. Raced in Ireland, he’s won two from two starts over hurdles, including a Grade 1 juvenile hurdle at Leopardstown. William Hill is offering good value on this entry with odds of 7/1.
