2011 Pertemps Final Preview & Tips
The 2011 Pertemps Final brings the Pertemps series of handicap hurdles races to a climax. One of the toughest Festival races to call, the Pertemps final features another huge field in 2011.
2011 Pertemps Final Race Favourites
1. Chartreux
A win and a show in three races has been enough to shunt Cartreux to the front of the 2011 Pertemps Final betting markets. Besides his 3rd place being achieved at Cheltenham, and the fact that he’ll be travelling light with just over 10st in this race, we can’t quite see what he is doing at the top of the betting, and he’s as good a lay option as you’ll see at the Festival in 2011.
2. Sivota
Sivota has a far more substantial track record over hurdles. In 13 races he’s won twice and shown in five, and has done most of his racing in Ireland. Willie Mullins entry will be carrying under 11st on Thursday, so shouldn’t have much to worry about on the weights end of the equation, but again, any bet on him is speculative as they come.
3. Barafundle
Barafundle’s record is worth a look. In 7 starts this horse has finished outside the top three just once, and he’s taken 3 wins in the process. He’ll be carrying just under 11st on Thursday, and has coped with more than that for all his wins to date. At a price of 11/1 at William Hill, he’s certainly an each-way option.
2011 Pertemps Final Long Shots
Tarablaze catches the eye for the 2011 Pertemps Final. With 3 wins and a 2nd place from three starts over hurdles, his record easily matches that of the favourites, and his weight of 10st 8lbs (at time of writing) shouldn’t present him with much of a challenge. He’s going for 25/1 at Ladbrokes – excellent value on each-way bets on race paying to 4th place.
2011 Pertemps Final Betting Tips
We won’t often suggest a large liability lay bet, but you’ll find few Cheltenham Festival entries more worthy of a solid lay bet at Betfair than Chartreux. We’d rather stay outside the back bet fray, but if we were to punt we’d put our money on long shot Tarablaze.
