2011 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle Preview & Tips

The Albert Barlett Novices’ Hurdle is the final Grade 1 event for novices at the 2011 Cheltenham Festival. In recent years this race has gone to the smaller stables, but the top guns field some strong entries in 2011.

2011 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle Race Favourites

1. Bobs Worth
Nicky Henderson fields the favourite for this race, with Bobs Worth a solid contender with three wins from three starts over hurdles. He’s already won twice at Cheltenham this season, and shouldn’t be unduly troubled by the New Course. Boylesports have him at 9/2, value you can’t refuse on each way bets if he makes the final field.

2. Champion Court
Champion Court isn’t quite of the same caliber, with one win from two starts. If his 9th place last time out (in a race won by Bobs Worth) is anything to go by, he’s best left to the lay betting markets.

3. Kilcrea Kim
Kilcrea Kim looks to have a better claim for second place in the betting with four wins from five starts over hurdles. Unfortunately his one failure came at Cheltenham, which has sown some doubt in punters’ minds. Paddy Power has him at 9/1, and there’s no doubting that he’s value at this price.

Cagewell Flyer is one who may surprise in the 2011 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle. This Irish raider has taken three wins from his last three starts, including two Irish Grade 2 races. At 11/1 at William Hill he’s worth a look.

2011 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle Betting Tips

There are several horses with strong claims to this race title, but you’d have to fancy Kilcrea Kim the most of all of these. At 9/1 he’ll pay off handsomely if he wins, and he’s good each-way value too.
